Lunch is provided and the meal is a wonderful opportunity for socialization. Birthdays and holidays are celebrated, and the entire family is welcome to attend.

The Social Day Program meets at the Baptist Church of Beaufort, 601 Charles Street, across from the Main Post Office, every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 - 1:45 pm. IN-HOME RESPITE CARE - Do you need a break? Are there things you just can't do because your loved one needs your constant attention? Our in-home respite service gives you the freedom and peace of mind you need. A trained Respite Aide visits the home once a week for four hours giving the caregiver a chance to run errands, grocery shop, schedule a medical appointment, have lunch with a friend, or just relax! We understand the need of caregivers for relief from the constant stress of their "36 hour day". Call the office to reach the Respite Program coordinator.

HOME EDUCATOR - Our Home Educator visits the caregiver and their extended family to provide educational materials, support, and referrals to other community agencies. She also teaches therapeutic activities that can be done at home with the patient. Many caregivers feel unable to leave home and can't take advantage of programs offered in the community. If this is your situation, or if you just need direction and information, this may be the program for you! Call 521-9190 to reach the Home Educator.

CARE FOR THE CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP - These informal peer support group meetings are held at the Baptist Church of Beaufort: Every Wednesday from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. The group allows caregivers to share their problems, concerns and frustrations with others who are dealing with similar issues. A clinial counselor leads the meetings. Research has shown that support groups are one of the most helpful resources for dealing with the stress that comes with caring for a patient with Alzheimer's Disease. There is a brief educational segment at the beginning of the meeting. All caregivers are welcome to attend. "Sitter care" is available for your loved one at the Wednesday meeting. Call the office to make arrangements.

EARLY MEMORY LOSS GROUP - This group meets every other Thursday morning for coffee, education, fun and friendship. Learn what new treatments are on the horizon, what medications may help and the process of the disease in a supportive environment.

REACH OUT - Community education presentations are available on Alzheimer's disease or how a community responds to memory loss and caregiver support. FREE!
